Highs & Lows Of The Week #22

I’ve basically gone through all the feels of a quarter life crisis this week. From extreme lows to plateau to ending it on a high – it’s been a crazy ride. I’m definitely going to touch on all of this more in-depth at some point, but for now I’ll choose to focus on the positives. I’m back in Dunedin this weekend, but I have to rush home to pack up my life once again and then dash for the airport. For this reason I might be a little MIA this week coming.

  • Family this week. If you’re ever struggling I can guarantee 100% that someone in your family has experienced the same in their lifetime. This week I was reminded how fragile and short life is, far too short to be unhappy.
  • The kindness of strangers. I’ll NEVER get used to the fact that someone would go out of their way to stop and help you when you need it most – especially when they have nothing to gain from it.
  • I’ve had a totally treat myself/retail therapy week. These are all the things I’ve bought (sorry wallet):
  • Catching up with so many friends in such a short amount of time. On that note: if you’re in Dunedin and love Italian style pizza definitely go to Pizzeria Da Francesca!
  • Music: I made a playlist full of new music this week (I’ll continue to update it) called Introspective. Follow it for my up-to-date music discoveries.
  • I’ve well and truly lost myself in the deep hole of dance videos this week. I’ve been bingeing on Tim Milgram’s channel like crazy.
  • Food for thought.
  • Nimble activewear is the bomb dig. I’m obsessed with the criss-cross back on my new sports bra and can’t wait to move to warmer weather to be able to wear it!
  • I read this on Instagram this week and it kind of stuck with me:

“The capacity to be alone is the capacity to love. It may look paradoxical to you, but it’s not. It is an existential truth: only those people who are capable of being alone are capable of love, of sharing, of going into the deepest core of another person–without possessing the other, without becoming dependent on the other, without reducing the other to a thing, and without becoming addicted to the other. They allow the other absolute freedom, because they know that if the other leaves, they will be as happy as they are now. Their happiness cannot be taken by the other, because it is not given by the other.”

  • I realised this week that one of my number one pet peeves is when people assume to know what you’re thinking without asking. I have a few friends that do this to me all the time and 98% of the time guess completely wrong.
  • Feeling completely helpless. Again, so glad for the kindness of strangers.
  • Old habits die hard.
