Progressives love to tout themselves as holding a monopoly on positive outcomes for the last two centuries or so. Sadly however, the progressive ideology is rooted in archaic forms of behavior control, outright lies, and eugenics.
Nothing proves this more than the current embodiment of progressive tyranny, Bill Nye. While multiple outlets have attacked, Nye as being "less than a scientist" because he holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, I will avoid this, since holding a degree has little to do with intelligence, or for that matter, the ability to conduct scientific studies. From the perspective of this author, Nye's real problems stem from his ideologies, many of which he has shared over the past several years, and still more, which have come to light in his latest television venture, "Bill Nye Saves the World," available now on Netflix.
Among some of Mr. Nye's more ridiculous proposals is the idea that we should punish people for having "too many kids." What number Nye actually considers to be "too many" is up for debate, but the incredible lack of logic behind this ideology is not. The reasons for the absurdity of this notion is simple; without breeding, where do the greatest minds come from? Einstein had a sister named, Maja Einstein. While all reports are that she was a bright student and well-spoken individual, she contributed exactly nil to the scientific community. This is the very same community that Nye now claims will save the world. Unfortunately, there is not yet any capacity by which we can guarantee the order in which the greatest minds will be born. By limiting the ability for humans to procreate, we limit the possibility that great minds will continue to exist.
What Nye is suggesting, much like all of the current progressive ilk, is not new. It is actually a well-established ideology, rooted in the early 20th century belief system, eugenics. It is the belief that populations should be controlled, manipulated, and for lack of a better term, "purified." Quite simply, it is the belief system of Nazis, and for a time, it had its heyday here in America too. During the early 20th century, many hospitals set about sterilizing those patients they found to be "lame." This included the chemical and physical castration of individuals deemed too stupid, too ill, or suffering from a handicap or mental illness. For quick reference, this is still practiced in China, and it has not turned out well for them.
Nye's main motivation appears to be, global Warming. He insists that his studies have concluded that if we do not reduce greenhouse gas emissions rapidly, the seas will rise, and all earthly inhabitants will die. For his part, Nye is completely unwilling to debate any of the facts surrounding this issue. He instead points to a growing list of scientists who support his idea of man-made global warming. The fact that the vast majority of these scientists have received federal funding to "conduct" their research and make recommendations for abatement is largely ignored. For some reason, he cannot fathom the idea that money might pollute the validity of their data. What could go wrong after all? Remember when the government paid for studies on saturated fats, so Americans spent 60 years eating massive amounts of sugars and simple carbohydrates, leading to the diabetic endemic we currently face? Yeah... nothing to see here.
Equally confounding was Nye's suggestion in 2016 that we should jail anyone who disagrees with his opinions about global warming. No, this is not a joke and you can read more about ithere. His logic for all of this is that people who deny climate change are putting him at risk, because eventually, he will die due to their denial. The idiocy of this statement seems to be lost on Mr. Nye, who seemingly wants to initiate gulag style imprisonment against anybody who questions his ideas. Finally, how does a liberal progressive like, Nye, defend the invasion of female reproduction rights, since population control most certainly requires uterine control and forced sterilization. Isn't that part of core liberal philosophy?
Aside from the tax payer money that has polluted the global warming studies, there is no solid data to show what number of scientists adhere to which ideology. There are a varied number of beliefs surrounding global warming, including those who believe it is a natural part of the evolutionary process. Geologists can point to at least four times in the Earth's developmental history in which the globe warmed considerably, without human intervention. On the opposite end of the spectrum, we also have indisputable evidence of global freezing, the most recent of which created our poles, both North and South. Perhaps the most important clue in evaluating man-made global warming is the recent discovery that climate data has been sufficiently manipulated for years. You can read more about it,here.
As with the progressive movements that brought us the wonderful world of, prohibition and Nazis, Nye suggests that his ideas, like so many liberal ideals, must be enforced at threat of imprisonment, or at the business end of a gun. Because of his popularity amongst liberals and millennials, many of whom grew up watching his successful show, "Bill Nye the Science Guy." It is unlikely that he will be called out for his dictatorial ideology. Afterall, progressivism has a monopoly on peace and positivity, until you disagree with it's fallacies. But in the mind of many, he has simply become, Bill Nye, the Violence Guy.
