Dyson WashG1: Dyson’s First Dedicated Wet Floor Cleaner

Dyson has recently announced their first dedicated wet floor cleaner called the Dyson WashG1, tackling wet and dry debris in one go!

Dyson WashG1 is the latest floorcare technology unveiled by Dyson, as it is a dedicated floor cleaner combining the powers of hydration, absorption, and extraction to remove wet and dry debris in one go. Some of the key features for wet floor cleaning are highly absorbent microfibre filament rollers, new separation technology from Dyson, a litre capacity clean water tank, and a modulated hydration pump.

To give better detail, we will focus on each feature to understand its concept better, starting with the rollers. In the Dyson WashG1, there are two individually powered rollers to pump distributed waters evenly across 26 position hydration points, along with the full width of each roller made up of highly absorbent microfiber and a 64,800 cm filament. The combination of the high-density microfibre and constant application of clean water ensure spills are absorbed while the filaments envelop the dirt, debris, and hair. Lastly, the position of the two rollers at the front and back of the machine helps achieve a longer dwell time on stains with each pass for fast and powerful stain removal.

The second feature of Dyson WashG1 is the new separation technology pioneered by Dyson to divide dirty water and debris at the source for hygienic, no-touch disposal. The way the separation technology works is that the dirty water is extracted from the roller’s durable extraction plates while the secondary nylon-bristled inner brush bars remove dirt and debris from the microfiber rollers and send it into a removable debris tray that is designed with a 500-micron mesh to separate dirty water from large debris. Powered by an extraction pump, dirty water is stored in a 0.8-litre capacity dirty water tank to be separated from a clean water tank, and both are designed with a large opening for easy maintenance and cleaning.

The next feature to look out for is the customized hydration control for the optimal floor finish. The Dyson WashG1 has an in-use hydration control, allowing the owners to select the level of hydration based on debris type, flooring, or personal preference from low, medium, or high modes. Alongside each mode, there are three sensitivity settings for owners to fine-tune to their personal cleaning needs. Additionally, the separate boost mode gives each roller the maximum amount of hydration when pressed for easier removal of dirt that may be difficult and dried on stains.

The last feature is edge-to-edge cleaning and maneuverability. For edge-to-edge cleaning, the rollers span the full width of the cleaner head, and the Dyson WashG1 is designed with two motors that sit within each microfibre roller as they spin in the opposite direction. For maneuverability, Dyson fine-tuned each motor to spin at a consistent speed to follow the hydration mode selected, allowing the Dyson WashG1 to glide while cleaning in the process. Dyson has adopted their Omni-glide technology as it provides additional balance and weight support with a low, cleaner head height that allows for easy reach underneath the furniture.

With the many features that come with the Dyson WashG1, it will be available in Canada later this year at the price of $899.99 and if purchased through Dyson Direct, owners can receive an additional set of rollers with every unit purchased.
