15/10/2015 - The descent follows a winding path twisting and turning away from the snowy peak and towards Lake Taupo.
It isn't hard to see why the Tongariro Alpine Crossing has been voted New Zealand's best day hike. One word of warning though; If you do the alpine crossing in winter, you may miss out seeing the colourful crater lakes which will most likely be covered by ice.
