For a while it looked like the American car manufacturers are late to release their own models in the mid-size crossover SUV segment. However, Ford is probably the first US manufacturer to unveil a car in this segment – it was in 2006 and the model was Edge. The interesting thing is that this model uses the Ford CD3 Platform – which is also used for Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKX, Mazda CX-9 and Mazda 6. The 2017 Ford Edge is going to continue using the same platform, but it should bring lots of changes – especially when it comes to looks. Ford Edge 2017 will be a very good SUV.
2017 Ford Edge Design
On the inside, the new 2017 Ford Edge should offer newly design interior – apparently the American manufacturer has decided to focus primarily on redesigning the dashboard – one of the parts that its predecessor received lots of criticism. Furthermore, customers that bought the current model have already stated that even though this mid-size crossover is quite big, there is no lots of room on the inside and because of that Ford has decided that the new Edge is going to have different interior – with slim, but comfortable seats and it could be longer – in order to make more room for the passengers in the back. One report has suggested that the Ford Edge 2017 is going to have satellite navigation, parking sensors and dual-zone climate control as part of the base version.
2017 Ford Edge Exterior
Since the Edge was recently updated on the outside (in 2015) it is less likely that the 2017 Ford Edge is going to get all-new design. However, we still expect that there are going to be some significant changes to the key elements of the exterior – new headlights, front grille, taillights, front and rear bumper are certainly going to be introduced. Furthermore, many reports suggested that the American manufacturer plans to introduce a new premium trim level, but this is not yet confirmed.
Ford Edge 2017 Engine
The standard engine in the 2017 Ford Edge is going to be the same 2.0l 4-cylinder EcoBoost that produces 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Second is the 3.5l V6 engine that produces 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, there is going to be a 2.7l EcoBoost V6 that produces 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. When it comes to diesel engines there is going to be a 2.0l Duratorq engine in two different versions – one produces 180 horsepower and the other 210 horsepower.
2017 Ford Edge Release date and price
The 2017 Ford Edge should go on sale in the Spring 2016. The pricing is expected to be the same as the pricing of the current model.
