MAC Viva Glam V Lipstick- Review and Swatches
I like the concept behind releasing Mac Viva Glam lipsticks. Every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass is donated to the M·A·C AIDS Fund to support men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS. It is not a lipstick that you just buy but it feels good when your addiction can actually help those who are in need. Everybody knows that MAC luster finishes are least favorite of all but there are few shades which look lovely and for me this is a sweet pick
What Company Claims:
In 1994, M·A·C introduced VIVA GLAM, an outspoken deep red that was universal in appeal and glamour. In 1997, a second lipstick was created VIVA GLAM II, a pinked mauve. VIVA GLAM III, a foxy brown plum launched in 2000. VIVA GLAM IV, a heartful rose charged with gold, introduced in March 2002. In March 2004, Viva Glam V makes its debut, a pure neutral pink with a delicious Lustre finish! VIVA GLAM VI, the newest member of the VIVA GLAM family, is a warm terracotta-plum with pearl finish. Wear it alone or finish it off with a coat of VIVA GLAM VI Lipglass. Every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass is donated to the M·A·C AIDS Fund to support men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS.

MAC describes Viva Glam V Lipstick as – Neutral Pink with Pearls with lustre finish. It is a clear, smooth neutral pinkish-beige nude which isn’t buildable as much as other MAC luster shades. On me it looks more neutral reflecting my lip colour than any pink. This is a classic neutral shade which goes with any skin tones. The translucency of the shade brings out the actual lip colour and makes them look like ultra nude lips with little bit of sheen to it. It has soft champagne shimmer to it, not too strong though it is noticeable when you see it up close. This provides sheen to lips and makes them look “my lips but better”. Most Nude lipsticks can be too dark or too light, some may wash you some may look super pale. The fact is picking up nude lipsticks is actually difficult than picking up bright shades. A perfect nude lipstick always depends on skin tones; MAC VIVA GLAM V is extremely flattering on both cool tones as well as warm tones. I use this shade when I am off for casual meetings with friends and family, sometimes college. This shade is perfect for pairing up with bold eyes. The sheerness of the shade can be mixed with any bold colour to balance out. In my LOTD I have used it on my bare lips and in 2nd pic I paired it up with Lakme 9-5 lip liner shade: Brick Rose. It is really a low maintenance shade and I can definitely see myself re-purchasing it.
The texture of MAC VIVA GLAM V is creamy and moisturizing. Applies smoothly and doesn’t settle into lines. The only downside is the staying power. Lustre lipsticks are never long lasting as other the ranges but still with a base it lasts upto 4-5 hours on me.
What I like about MAC VIVA GLAM V Lipstick:
- Creamy and smooth texture.
- Moisturizing on lips.
- Doesn’t accentuate lip lines.
- Keeps my lips hydrated.
- The translucency of the shade brings out my actual lip colour with slight coverage and sheen.
- Perfect for daily wear.
- Low maintenance shade.
- MAC VIVA GLAM V is very neutral and hence looks good on cooler as well as warmer skin tones.
- The beige-champagne shimmers are noticeable enough (good or bad?).
- The cause behind releasing whole VIVA GLAM Lipstick range.
What I don’t like about MAC VIVA GLAM V Lipstick:
- Wish that it is long staying like the other MAC lipsticks.
- Doesn’t have buildable coverage.
MAC released these VIVA GLAM Lipsticks each with different finishes. It depends on your personality which one you will like. For me it’s a must have neutral nude shade for every age.
