Venice….Perhaps you’ve heard of it?
‘Serenissimo’ was a Byzantine title, conferred initially to the Doge and the Signoria, then extended to the whole Republic of Venice. ‘Most Serene’ was an honorary indicator of dominion. But there is an additional motivation why Venice has kept on carrying this nickname, which has grown into legendary, just as the city itself, through the centuries. From the outside, Venice looked like a “serene” place, out of danger from the chaos distressing so many other cities.

I affectionately refer to Venice as the floating city even though it is seemingly sinking. If you’ve seen Venice in movies or televisions shows, the portrayals are truthful. Piazza San Marco looks precisely the same, feathered friends and all. The "Grande Canale" is, actually, a grand canal with astonishing houses lining it and boats putting up down this water way.
Built on mud surfaces in a lagoon, the city doesn’t have much room to expand.
It just seems “suspended” in time.

It goes without saying that Venice has a rather outstanding past.

  • THE SCALZI BRIDGE

Once you’ve explored the tourist attractions, it will be time to discover the other Venice.
The best way to do this is remain standing in front of your hotel or hostel, verify which direction the tourist attractions are situated and start walking in the other direction.
While you may sense like you’re driving on the wrong way on a freeway for a few minutes, you in the end will start getting into the real Venice.

A totally different part of Venice will materialize and you’ll love it!
You’ll come across to petite cafes with local residents who will be happy to talk to you and who offer food at non-tourist prices. In fact, the Venetians will tend to hold you in high regard since you’re a tourist who detour the sightseer areas. This, of course, will understandably conduct to a twirl of introductions to a nephew, to that son, to a brother and so on.
Next thing you know, you’ll be part of the group criticizing Italian politicians and chatting on how things used to be better in the past!.....
While Venice is an exceptional travel destination, you can’t really go wrong in Italy.
For the most thrill-seeking, set your travel plan with the old map on a wall and a dart technique.
Seriously, Venice is a city you should visit at least on one occasion in your life.

No article could ever do it justice, so I’ll just stop here….
Till the next one, have the most amazing trip!
