Performance of the website is the major concern for each and every blogger or a website owner. Loading it fast for a reader must be our major concern points. There are many factors that lead to the low Performance of our website.
Web Hosting provider plays the major role in this, but getting good web hosting provider will lead to high cost (At least for new bloggers). So will share some tips if you have a performance issue with the bad web hosting provider. These tips are also useful to all the bloggers initially as the points are not specific to some hosting company, it is a generic point which needs to be handled by all.
Will update this regularly with new points on How to increase performance, but for now, I have listed some points below:
1. Avoid using unwanted Plugins:
Try using as less plugin as possible. More plugin you use more time it takes to load as all have individual scripts which will get initialize on page load. So try using only those plugin which you need or that is important and avoid using that is not required. New blogger always tries to use some heavy plugin which leads to the performance issue, like using some plugin weather forecast, View counter etc. even though this plugin will not cost you more on performance factor but you should always avoid using such. So unless and until
2. Compress Images:
Loading large size images takes time, so use plugins or optimize images to load it quickly. More quickly the images loaded, the less is the page load time. So you can use any good servers to host images rather loading it from own servers, as loading images part will be done by the server hosting images.
3. One then Many:
Rather using many things to do a similar task, use one but the better thing to do it. Use premium template or plugins to do a task rather using multiple freemium plugins. As no freemium plugins will provide you with all the features, so for this you will try getting those missing features from any other freemium plugins/theme which violates out Avoid using unwanted Plugins point.
4. Content Delivery Network:
CDN is distributed network of proxy servers. CDN is must be configured if you have bad web hosting provider (BAD means not so good from a performance perspective). Cloudflare is one such CDN which provide some useful feature for free so one can try using this. Major performance difference can be seen if you use this.
Minifying is the process of removing unwanted redundant data without affecting the resource that will be processed by the browser. Unwanted data and redundant data like removing comments and formatting, removing unused codes, variable names and many other. There are many plugins available for minifying.
