To put it bluntly I love snacks. Who doesn't love a sweet treat to indulge in front of the TV. It's easy to be bombarded with a large selection of high Sugar and high calorie crisps, chocolate and sweets on our supermarket shelves. There's nothing wrong with treating yourselves from time to time but there are some great healthier alternatives to help you improve your diet and overall health.
Vegetable Crisps | Pret A Manger Parsnip, Carrot & Beetroot crisps
The trusty potato has found a sturdy place in our homes and can be crafted into a variety of meals. However once splashed in oil and salt then they can have a really negative affect on your health. Roasted sweet potato, parsnip, carrot and beetroot provide a healthier alternative from your standard bag of salt and vinegar. There are a few different variety's that you'll be able to pick up in your supermarket and health shops but these by Pret a Manger really caught my attention. These are something I have tried for the very first time only a few weeks ago, in fact that was the very first time I have ever been to A Pret store before, madness! I love the combination of sweet tasting vegetables. I was slightly unsure about the beetroot at first, but actually worked well. A really good alternative to regular potato crisps.
Muscle Food | Strawberry Sugar Free Sweets
The first thoughts that come to me when I hear sugar free sweets is a flavorless, medicine aroma rock that a dentist might give you after an examination. Not sure why this comes to mind, perhaps it's just me. However these sugar free sweets by Muscle Food don't fit any of the quality's I just listed. For someone who has a real sweet tooth I thought finding a sugar free alternative that didn't lack in the taste department would be impossible. You could never tell that these were sugar free sweets, they taste delicious and slightly addictive. Love them!
Oat Bars | Cocoa and Vanilla Protein Flapjack
Graze, arguably trend setters for the subscription box service and leading Healthy snack creators. After trying a number of their healthy treats these have got to be my favorite. I'm a huge fan of flapjack but have struggled to find any with a low sugar and fat content that actually taste good. These are something else!
Popcorn | Proper Corn coconut and vanilla
Popcorn has long progressed from a cinema treat and is a food that has recently gained it's status as a healthy power house. Popcorn provides a low calorie snack boasting a selection of health benefits for example protecting against diabetes from the present fiber content. Minimize the use of butter and caramel and replace with coconut and cocoa powder can really turn popcorn into a healthy winner. My popcorn pick though has to be these coconut and vanilla flavored bag by proper corn. These can be picked up in Ocado, Holland and Barrett as well as a few supermarkets. They have a real sweet taste to them, a combination of flavors that really compliment each other.
