When Vampire Michael Vanderhorst’s maker is murdered, he travels to Phoenix, Arizona to find out who did it in The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant. There, he meets cute librarian Miriam, who seems to attract trouble like it’s her second profession, and ends up taking a job as her assistant so he has an excuse to stay in Phoenix. When Michael witnesses Miriam being attacked and she ends up in the hospital near death, he gives her his blood to save her. But when she doesn’t feel that bond that’s grown between them, he quickly realizes things in Phoenix are not how they appear to be. Can Michael solve the mystery before they both end up dead?
I enjoyed this story and it’s good there’s a second one because we have some unanswered questions that need to be dealt with. There’s more to Miriam than meets the eye and I want to know what it is. Michael is one of those ‘deal with things yourself’ type of people, which is how he ends up in the situation he’s in. And then there’s Lula, Michael’s vampire sibling, who is absolutely hilarious and will do whatever Michael needs her to. I hope we see more of her in the next book, because she’s a scene stealer. I’m looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.
