Kwara to provide solar-power in villages

Plans are underway to install Solar Powered Electricity in villages across Kwara state, Today.NG

The State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, disclosed this yesterday at the monthly town hall meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Banquet Hall, opposite Government House, Ilorin. According to the Governor, villages with about five hundred to six hundred population would benefit from the pilot scheme of the project as part of efforts to light up Kwara and improve its economy.

Governor Ahmed explained that the plan was to change the strategy of providing Electricity to communities in the state. He noted that the government’s effort at providing transformers to communities was not yielding fruitful results due to epileptic power supply, pointing out that the solar powered electricity would guarantee electricity to rural communities in the state.
