How to setup Magento Multi store?

Multi Store setup is one of the most important features Magento have. Magento gives you the functionality to setup multiple stores. It is also scalable that you do not have to worry about smooth running of the store.

In Multi Store Setup you can manage more than one stores with the single installation and admin panel.

Here are the step by step guide to configure Magento multistore.

a) You will need the domin names like

www.mysite1.com & www.mysite2.com

b) Srevre configuration:

Before adding one more store you will need to ensure that you have configured the two domain names in the same insatallation. This means root of your each host ( virtual hosts for both domains) must direct to the file where Magento is installed.

Suppose you have Apache server and you have a Magento setup with domain name www.mysite1.com and now you want to add another domain www.mysite2.com within the same admin panel.How will you do this?

Go to Parked Domains within the cPanel and add the new domain.

Parked Domains will add the new domain www.mysite2.com to the same directory where the original setup is.

Now we have to setup the store:

1) Create new category:

Click on Catelog menu and then Manage ctegories i.e Catelog> Manage Categories

b) Now click on Add Root Category

c) Enter the new category name and set Is Active as True.

d) Click on Display setting and set Is Anchor as Yes.

e) Now save category

2) Now you have to configure the store

a) Go to Sytem menu> Manage store

b) Click on Create Website

c) Fill the input fields

d) Click create store

e) Now click on Create Store View

f) Fill the input fields

g) Go to System> Configuration> General

h) Select the Default Config under Current Configuration Scope

You are done with the new store setup.

i) Now Under Configuration> Web set Auto-redirect as No and Save Configuration

j) Under Web> change the secure and unsecure base URL as www.mysite2.com

k) Uncheck the Use Default Store View option

l) Save Configuration
