Homes for Rent in the Long Island Area That You Can Really Call HOME

Read PDF

One of the most important decisions we make as adults is choosing a place to call home. Whether you are looking for a permanent place to raise a family, or something a little more short term, the place you pick should reflect your lifestyle and be a comfortable refuge from your hectic day.

The dream situation is to live in a place where your landlord is transparent. Meaning, the only time you hear from them is when you need them. Have you ever lived in a place where you couldn’t hang a picture on the wall, or painted a room with your favorite color? Having the flexibility to decorate your place with your style is what makes a house a home.

I did some searching, and found a few houses in Suffolk County, NY that, with the right touch, look like they would make a comfortable home.

153 Canal Road, Port Jefferson Station, NY

This 2-Bedroom, 1-bathroom, 1,100 square foot single family home has been recently remodeled. It has new carpet in the living room and bedrooms, and new kitchen appliances. There is a patio in the back with a deck and large yard. It is listed as pet-friendly on, and is available for $1600 per month.

32 Holiday Blvd, Center Moriches, NY

This 3-bedroom single family home, with 1-1/2 bathrooms, has a full basement with washer and dryer hook-ups. The living space is 1,000 square feet, and the back yard has an enclosed fence to keep your pets safe. I assume, the landlord wouldn’t have a problem with painting. Currently, one bedroom is yellow, and another bedroom is light blue, and the kitchen is green. With a few upgrades to the paint, this house looks like it could be very cozy. The asking price is $2000 per month.

21-39 45th Road, Long Island City, NY

A little more expensive than I would care to pay is a 1,000 square foot 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment in Long Island City. What I like about this one is the fact that I do not have to mow a lawn. The patio has a very small patch of grass that I could maintain with a pair of scissors. The unit has hardwood floors throughout, except for the kitchen which has tile. The living room has a built in shelving unit that looks like a shadow box frame. The location is great, just across the street from Court Square Station, and down the block from the John Murray playground.

10 Greybarn Lane, Amityville, NY

This one is most definitely my favorite. Although, it’s not yet complete, Greybarn has a comfortable vibe to the property. An average 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment is 1200 square feet, and rents for about $2700 per month. For the same price as a single family home, I could have the same amount of space, plus the luxury of having a community centered atmosphere that makes socializing with neighbors easy and fun.

700 Broadway, Amityville, NY

This one seems almost too good to be true. It is a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment for $1450 per month. It has a large living room, with a built in shelf along 2 walls. The complex is called Broad Hollow Gardens. Just off of the living room is a small outdoor space. The pictures I see from Google maps shows a lot of open green space between buildings.

No matter what kind of dwelling you are searching for to call home, the Long Island area has a variety of apartments and homes for rent that would fit anyone’s needs.
