Review of Two Captains, One Chair by Shaye Marlow

Suzy loves her job as a River barge captain and she’s perfectly happy until someone steals Georgette, the gold nugget left to her by a dying man in Two Captains, One Chair.Knowing almost everyone that lives on the river, Suzy decides to investigate on her own, starting with Ed, the son of the man who gave her Georgette. Ed is a complete mystery to her, other than he’s got a lot of beard going and the fact the her pursued her friend Helly before she got involved with Gary. Ed’s obviously keeping a secret from her and Suzy is determined to find out what it is. But what will happen when the truth finally comes out?

Suzy is kick ass, doing a job usually done by a man. In fact, it used to be her brother’s job and she took it over from him. But she’s also a little bit of a girly girl, with her sparkly nail polish and cute sandals. She also owns a really adorable goat. Ed is kind of awkward, but in an endearing way. And truthfully, there really is a lot more going on with him than Suzy realizes at first. She sees glimpses of it, but she doesn’t fully get it until she knows the truth about what Ed is hiding. You can’t deny, they’re exceptionally hot together. Gary, Helly and her brothers all have large parts in this story and it was great to see them again. Next up is J.D.’s story, Two Brutes, On Barista.
