- I am more or less new to “preparedness” as an everyday solution to family dinner since I cook everyday with fresh ingredients from the scratch.
Lately my husband and I have been invited from friends to spend a weekend in a cabin in Humboldt County. I know that right now all my friends and my fellow followers are giggling just imaging me “the zazzy travelista” involved in an outdoor experience without all the trimmings!
I thought that up there could be difficult to cook the same classic way like I do at home. For this reason before getting everything ready for the 3 day vacation I decided to place an order to Wise Food Storage Company so that I could try their products.
If my hubby and I would like them then we have resolved our mealtime for 72 hours!
I received a package delivered by Fed-Ex. Inside I found my ordered “Wise Favorites 72-hour Kit” box containing the followings:
- 6 entrées
- 3 breakfast meals
- Each individually packaged for a total of 18 servings (2 servings per pouch)
Look: The pockets look in neat condition. No crease or scratch. The seal is strong and tight.
Inside the pouch: The food inside looks good. The peas are in perfect shape like the one you get when bought them fresh. Perfectly round with the same size. Carrots also look fresh with the real natural orange color. A special note: Wise Company packs the food in exclusive “Mylar” pouches.

Preparation: Nothing easier than this. I just had to boil 2 cups of tap water, pour it in the Mylar pouch and stir it. Then I sealed the pouch again and I let is stand for 12 minutes (the instructions suggest 12 to 15 minutes). Then I slowly opened the pouch and voila’ my Creamy Chicken Pasta was ready.
Tasting: The taste is good with a very creamy consistency. I like the pasta Italian way which means “al dente” so 12 minutes was perfect for my personal palate. My husband added a pinch of salt because the recipe was a little insipid to his taste. The chicken was perfectly moist to a point that I would have never thought wasn’t bought fresh from the shelf. The peas and carrots were also good. Next we have tried the "Noodles and beef in mushroom sauce" with the same process and same time. This time I would have let it stay in the pouch for the full 15 minutes instead of 12. Everything was perfect but some of the little bits of the beef were just slightly hard.
My Overall Personal Opinion
In my personal opinion, Wise Company Food Storage has rapidly become one of the leading players in the food storage industry, and you will without doubt be satisfied with the quality and service you get from them.
I would like to suggest the use of this product to all of you who are camping, hiking or boating (granted you can boil water on the boat, of course).
The box containing the pouches is averagely small and lightweight so that isn’t a problem carrying it around and also takes very little space so you can find room in any part of your luggage.
I wouldn’t limit the use of Wise Company products to an outdoor experience though. It is a great solution for an emergency dinner for your family after a chaotic work day or in case there is no power in your neighborhood.
A special note: Wise Company has been very attentive with all the needs in emergency food and had created a line that is completely Gluten Free.
