About Mhadei river
The Mandovi river which is also popularly known as Mahadayi or Mhadei river is one of the major river flowing through the state of Goa, Zuari river being another one. Both the rivers meet each other at a common creek at Cabo Aguada. Mandovi river originates from the group of 30 springs in the Western Ghats at Bhimgad, Belagavi district of Karnataka state. The river has a total length of around 77 Kilometers (48 miles) out of which 52 kilometers (32 miles) are in Goa and 29 kilometers (18 miles) is in Karnataka.

River rafting at Mahadei River during monsoon season is the popular adventure activity carried out during the months of June to October. The scenic beauty of the river with the panoramic jungle view of the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary makes it an amazing experience for tourists.
The total route for the rafting is about 10 km starting from the nearby village of Ustam and the final destination where the trip ends is in the village of Sonal. Time duration required to complete one trip is around half an hour. It is advisable to reach the starting point half an hour before the exact timing for instructions and safety procedures.

Clothing and footwear: It is recommended to wear comfortable but steady footwear with straps/laces which doesn’t get spoil in water. Slippers are highly not recommended for the river rafting due to the risk factor involved. With respect to clothes wearing swimwear or shorts and T-shirts are recommended as Loose clothing would not be comfortable for the trip.

Fitness criteria: It is advisable for the person with severe disabilities or a Pregnant women’s to not enroll for this rafting course. Similarly, Heart patients and people with severe back problems may face issues during a trip.
