The colourful, happy vibe of Lucy and Steve’s Wedding is just how I’d imagine the perfect wedding to be. Perfection isn’t about colour palettes or a theme, it’s not even about the day running to schedule or being stress free: the perfect wedding is one where everyone is smiling from beginning to end, where the dancefloor is full, where the best memories are unplanned, unexpected and all the more amazing for it. Today’s gorgeous bride Lucy and super handsome groom Steve show us exactly how it’s done…
Of course, it’s extra nice if there’s a rainbow… do scroll right down to the end of the feature to see the amazing lucky charm which ended this beautiful, perfect wedding day!

We made up the flowers ourselves! This was one of my favourite parts of the wedding prep! Our venue didn’t need much decoration but the marquee did! We did this all ourselves, with help from work colleagues, friends and family. We made almost everything! Table centres, the favours, extra bits that went around the venue! I loved doing all of this.
Remember that above all, your wedding is a celebration of your love for each other and really, that’s all that matters! Try not to get hung up on the small things! ~ Lucy & Steve

How did you choose your photographer?
We searched high and low for the right photographer, we wanted someone who could capture the day as it unfolds- rather than just structured photos. We found ~Sandy online, he came over for a chat and we knew from then that he was the photographer for us!
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
From the moment we met Sandy, we loved his down to earth personality and very clear passion for photography. For a couple who aren’t comfortable with being photographed- he turned that around! He made us feel comfortable and even enjoy our engagement shoot, which meant we REALLY enjoyed being photographed on our wedding day! We wanted photos that told the story of our day and this is exactly what we got! Sandy captured moments that are so precious that we will love forever!
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
Its surprising how emotional it was to see our wedding photographs for the first time. It felt like we were re-living the day, photo by photo! It was wonderful to see photos of our guest having fun and enjoying the day too.

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
A truly special day, shared with the people we love most!
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Lots of research online, contacting companies and getting to know them to ensure they suited us and what we hoped to achieve.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
choose the 3 most important aspects to your wedding and spend your money on those- everything else you will find easier to compromise on!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
Our invite photo was taken by Carly Wong- The Pet Collective, this was during a photo shoot for our dog, Albert. Louise Kelly from Lime Park Studios created the design for all the stationery
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
It took me a long time to find the right dress! But when I did, I knew it was the one!

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
My Jewellery came from my mum, my headpiece was borrowed from a dear friend and my shoes were from Debenhams.
And what did the groom wear?
Steve wore a blue suit from Matalan and funky shirt from house of Fraser- all tailored to fit. This worked out a lot cheaper than renting suits and looked amazing.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
My bridesmaids wore beautiful long dresses, 3 different colours of green/blue….. our flower girls wore the same colour fun style dress. Everyone looked amazing.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
My bridesmaid Lyn did my make up and we had a friend did our hair.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
MY sister made our cake! We loved it! It was a lemon drizzle and carrot cake. It was important to us that our dog Albert was involved in all aspects of the day and my sister definitely achieved this with the cake.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
Our band was called Limited Edition from Bristol. They were amazing and many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed them.
What’s the best thing about being married?
