Even if you are not very found of Valentine’s Day when you alone on such a day you risk to feel worse than usual. Everybody receives red roses, gifts and goes out with her lover while you stay at home. How to handle this situation?
First of all you are not alone. I know it may not seem like that but there are a lot of men and women who don’t like all those romantic photos posted on Facebook or Instagram,. All red or pink posts can become disgustingly commercial. What does a mature woman with a flock animal? Instead of becoming a Valentine’s Day Grinch try to find a way of spending this day as beautiful as possible.
Don’t forget about family and friends
If you haven’t talked to your parents for a long tine go take them to a restaurant. Go visit your grandmother, remind her how much it means to you. Meet with friends who don’t consider that love must be celebrated only on Valentine’s Day.
Therapy for body and soul
Go shopping, buy yourself a new pair of shoes or the dress you’ve always wanted. Go to a massage, sauna or swimming. A new haircut or a facial treatment will make you feel relaxed and confident. Don’t deny any pleasure for your body, mind and soul.
Organize a party with all the single ladies you know
Make from Valentine’s Day the Single Awareness Day, celebrating the marvelous you and your single friends are. Choose a thriller or comedy movie, order pizza, do some popcorn and have fun. Romantic movies are prohibited of course.
Remember your qualities and accomplishments and celebrate them. Even if you haven’t received a box of chocolate it doesn’t mean you are not loved and appreciated. You don’t need someone to tell you this.
They say Saint Valentine was the kindest man in Rome as he would always give to poor people all he received. Legend says he was kind to animals, taking care of the most meaningless beings. Follow his example and offer unconditioned love to those in need. You can visit a shelter for animals or an orphanage. No matter what you choose, at the end of the day your gesture of giving money or a little affection to those in need will be more than appreciated.
