Chris Brown was arrested Thursday night in Florida.
The 29-year-old performer of “All the Lights” was at West Palm Beach singing at Coral Sky Amphitheater as part of his “Heartbreak on a Full Moon“ tour in the United States. He was apprehended by the police, who was waiting on the sides of the stage.
The singer was detained at 11:00 pm local time and released 52 minutes later, after a $2,000 bail.
Chris Brown was arrested following an outstanding arrest warrant from last year, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. WPTV explained that the star was arrested following an arrest warrant for assault by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office following an incident last spring; at the time, the police had estimated that Chris Brown had hit a photographer during a paid appearance at a club.
After his arrest, the singer of R&B posted a photo from the scene on Instagram with the following message: “What’s NOW ????? Show tomorrow !!!!” He added a rolling emoji of eyes and a red heart emoji. The singer is scheduled to perform on 15th June at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
In recent years, Chris Brown has been in trouble with the law several times, starting with his physical aggression on Rihanna in 2009; he was subsequently sentenced for assault and threats, before being sentenced to five years of probation and TIG.
In 2013, Chris Brown’s parole was revoked after he was involved in a possible hit-and-run in Los Angeles. The complaint was later dropped, but he had to work 1,000 additional hours of TIG. Later in the fall of 2013, Chris Brown and his bodyguard were arrested and charged with assault after an alleged altercation outside a Washington hotel. The charge was quickly reduced to one offense, and the singer was released without bail. Shortly after, the singer returned to a rehab center on his own, before being kicked out after breaking one of his mother’s car windows during a family session. A few days later, he was sentenced to an anger management center for three months. Unfortunately, Chris Brown violated the rules of the institution and was fired. As a result, a judge sentenced the “Questions” interpreter to spend 131 days in prison for failing to comply with the terms of his probation. The prisoner was released from prison earlier, but was re-probed and sentenced to finish his TIG hours and see a psychiatrist twice a week.
But in early 2015, Chris Brown’s trial was revoked after a judge learned he had left Los Angeles County without prior consent. In 2016, the singer was again arrested and charged with an armed assault following a nine-hour confrontation at his Los Angeles home. The police responded to a call from Baylee Curran, a former beauty queen, who claimed that the musician had threatened her with a gun at a party at his home. At the time, Chris Brown had mentioned the incident on Instagram, treating the police as “idiots” and “worst gang in the world”. (He then erased those messages.) Mark Geragos, the singer’s lawyer, denied the idea of a confrontation and said about the search warrant: “Nothing has been found to corroborate his words to her.” In 2017, a judge granted Karrueche Tran a restraining order against the singer for five years. In front of the court, she claimed that Chris Brown had sent threatening SMS messages and assaulted her. At the start, after Karrueche got this injunction against him, the star had told his fans, “Do not listen to that bullshit, with everything people do outside, let them do what they do. I do not know what they’re talking about.”
Chris Brown did not comment on his new arrest.
