Three Tips On Maintaining Your Edge In Life

Our lives are what we make of it. How we live our lives as we age is determined first of all by us and the decisions we ultimately make. We have to have a long-term vision now of how we want to live, act and feel in 5, 10, or 20 years from now.

We have to be proactive in our thoughts first of all but, we really need to take those thoughts and put them into action. One of the ways to determine in what direction our lives will go and then keeping it on track is by keeping an edge or in other words, being committed to following these three tips to help keep your life and dreams in line with your desires with a strong commitment.

Not letting any distractions subvert your mission, staying on course will take focus and zen-like concentration, however, following these three tips will help you keep your edge and keep you focused.

1. Being Physically Fit. This is the first line of defense to living a life that you desire. If you do not have your health you will lose your independence in controlling your life or lack the energy to follow up with action. There is nothing that will put your life in turmoil faster than poor health.

You will have at your disposal multiple options to keep your health running at peak efficiency by eating healthier foods for starters. Increase your lean proteins sources and decrease the sugar and high calorie processed foods for instance. You have to become knowledgeable on what is considered high-performance foods in other words.

Look for healthier options and think of consuming high -performance foods like fruits and vegetables, lean protein choices include skinless chicken breasts, fish, skinless turkey breast and tuna for example.

Have in place a strength training program 3-4 times a week at least, where you are working on the major muscle groups like your back, chest, legs, shoulders to keep you strong and preserve your lean muscle.

By maintaining your lean muscle through strength training, you build a stronger mind and body and keep your bodies hormones in at optimal levels that are needed to keep you healthy and vibrant.

2. Being Mentally Tough.  being mentally tough means different things to different people, however, you need to have the will and determination to live life through its ups and downs with an attitude that you may be down but you will not be defeated.

Being mentally tough means you learn to pass up on short-term gratification for better long-term results. You have goals and you learn to focus and clarify your mission and attack them with an all-out assault through visualization and empowering self-talk.

Mentally tough means sticking to your plan through the good times and the bad and there will be days that you may feel is this all worth the trouble? The mentally tough see through this diversion and learn to either go through their obstacles or around them but they are not defeated by them!

Being mentally tough also means doing what needs to be done whether you feel like it or not. There will be days you will not feel like working out for instance, but you have to fight through those temptations and disempowering thoughts and do what is right for your long-term success.

3. Never Quit Attitude.   This is one of the most important tips you can follow to overcome any obstacle you may be up against. You will be tested in life especially later in life when you do not feel like going any further on your commitment to strength train or finish reading the book you started that will help you improve your life.

Quitting is a regret many people live with when it comes to following their dreams or desires in life and then decided to bail because things got a little tough. Don't go down that road, stick with it, perseverance will win every time.

To keep your edge in life you have to be in the game every day rather than on cruise control. Life will throw many things at you from illness to financial troubles to relationship troubles at any given time.

If you live your life following just these three simple tips you will be in better shape to handle problems in life more than 95 percent of the general public.
