In order to rush a Baby who was reported to be suffering from a ‘heart ailment’, an IndiGo Flight bound for Bengaluru from Calcutta made an emergency landing at the Raipur Airport, but unfortunately, the outcome was not successful as the baby could not be revivied by the hospital authorities and prononuncd dead.
It is understood the cabin crew carried out whatever emergency procedures, which they are trained for and the pilot diverted the flight to Raipur Airport. The ground staff also did their bit to expedite the clearances to take the baby to the hospital but all these did not avert the loss.
The flight waited until they came to know of this sad news and took off after having to leave the parents.
It is possible the parents were not lucky because if a doctor passenger was avaialble in the flight , the chances of the child being saved would have been bright. However, there are those who argue that that the flights do not carry medical kits to handle emergencies. According to them, the DGCA should make it mandatory a doctor or at least a nurse trained to handle emergencies should form part and parcel of the team of cabin crew/
Of course, these are all the thoughts post the event and what all we can do now is to offer our heartfelt sympathies to the parents for having to suffer this irrepairable loss and pray to the God for tiny tot’s soul to rest in peace.
