REVIEW | EYEWAKE Skincare – Hydrating Eye Serum

Tags: skin eyewake

Feeling the first day back to work and the holiday season is over blues I was so excited to check my emails and see that Eyewake had contacted me directly asking if I would like to receive their product in exchange for a review. I had a little read about the brand (thank you Lucy for the comprehensive low down!) and I was really keen to try it out!

Here is what the brand has to say about its product:

Eyewake is a natural formula collagen gel which revitalises your skin, removing dark circles and puffy eyes. The anti-aging natural ingredients are rich in Omegas, Vitamins and Antioxidants with elastin boost for skin vitality. A percentage of every sale made goes to Women’s Aid.

  • REDUCE DARK CIRCLES & PUFFINESS – The luxury eye gel formula combines powerful ingredients to target areas around your eyes. Cucumber & Elderflower instantly awakens and soothes puffy eyes. Laded with Vitamin-E, a strong antioxidant that moisturizes the skin;

  • RICH IN POWERFUL ANTIOXIDANTS – using natural products it helps boost your skins vitaility;

  • NOT JUST FOR EYES – Your eyes aren’t the only part of your face that can benefit from the age defying properties of this product. With simple application to your cheeks, forehead and the areas around your mouth and lips, you’ll see correction to these signs of ageing in no time, helping you attain a smooth and brilliant complexion. A perfect base and primer for makeup;

  • MADE FROM A TRUSTED SOURCE – Eyewake skincare products are never tested on animals and are made and manufactured cruelty-free in the UK at our state of the art laboratories. Suitable for all skin type’s. Contains no alcohol;

Information and product claims are taken from the Eyewake website and amazon.

You can purchase this from amazon for £34.95 but it is currently on sale for £12.95 (correct 18.1.17). I actually purchased this off amazon myself and the Eyewake team reimbursed me so I could go through the purchase experience myself. I ordered it on Wednesdays night and it arrived by Friday – I chose the normal delivery option so I was really impressed at the speed in which it reached me.

The packaging is very minimalist, which is nice it makes flatlay photos easy and I suppose you don’t want neon colours all over a natural product but I was left feeling a little bit underwhelmed. For the original price of the product, I would expect at least an outer box with the product information, benefits and directions for use to make sure that you use the product to its full potential instead you are left in the hope that you read the full low down on amazon at time of purchase and know what to do with it.

I personally like to use this as a primer under my makeup, it has a high glycerin content which makes it a perfect base and I did feel like it smoothed my skin out, in addition to this when I took off my makeup after about 12 hours, my skin was not red like it usually is when I have used a conventional primer.

Bonus points go to this serum because I had a cold during the trial of this so the skin on my nose was sore and irritated from all the tissue to skin contact I was having over the days. The serum also has a high Witch Hazel along with Vitamin E content which are great for repairing skin and promoting skin cell renewal, so I applied it to my nose just before I went to sleep – it was cooling and soothed my sore nose, then it burnt like HELL for about 5 minutes… the next morning however, all the redness and sore skin was resurfaced and made to look like it had never seen a tissue in its existence so yeah I don’t think you are meant to put this on damaged skin but it really works to repair it.

So after a week of testing it and using it every day I have pros and cons over it. Lets start with the cons first so that we can focus on the positives:

  • I think it is pricey and unless I was contacted to review it, I don’t think I would have considered to buy it at full price. I do see that they still have to make a profit after their charity donation and cost of everything else taken in to account I would probably pay £25 maximum for this.
  • The packaging lets the first impressions of the product down.

That’s the only two cons that I can find with it and they are not a reflection on the product itself, it is aesthetics and value. So lets move on to the pros!

  • The formula is smooth, cooling and soothing which really leaves your skin feeling hydrated and fresh either applied day or night.
  • I thought it made a wonderful primer for my makeup.
  • It repaired my skin really quickly.
  • My skin felt smooth and resurfaced when it soaked in.
  • There is no fragrance to the serum.
  • The serum is packed full of natural products, in fact there are only 12 and I can successfully pronounce all of them along with knowing what their properties are for the skin!
  • Shipping was super quick.
