LAKE PUKAKI - THE BLUEST OF BLUE

04/03/2016 - The perfect place to picnic when on the road and cool off. A personal favourite of mine, Lake Pukaki trumps its neighbour, Lake Tekapo in beauty, colour and remoteness. Fed by the Tasman and Hooker Glaciers, the lake has a distinctive mesmerising blue colour whatever the weather. Just before sunset, the lake is at its most dramatic.

On a clear, sunny day, Mount Cook is visible in the distance and the water sparkles.

On a cloudy day, the lake reflects the moody sky. These photographs were all taken on the same day and some within minutes of each other.
