Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop Launched with Windows 10 and GeForce GTX 1060

Xiaomi has entered the segment of gaming specific computing devices, with the launch of its new Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop, in the same event where it launched the Mi MIX 2S. The device is powered by the 7th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, and packs a Nvdia GeForce 1060 graphics card, with 6GB video memory.

Available in a Space Grey color, the laptop has two variants – with the i5 and i7 processors. The lower variant will be available for CNY 5,999-7,999 (approx. Rs.61,000-82,000), and the high-end model is available for CNY 8,999 (approx. Rs.92,975). These models will go on sale in the Chinese market from April 13.

Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop: Specifications

The laptop has a 15.6-inch narrow-frame full HD display that supports 72% of NTSC color gamut and 178 degrees viewing angles. It has a professional RGB-backlit keyboard with 5 programmable keys. The Intel Core i5 variant includes Nvdia Geforce Gtx 1050Ti with 4GB GDDR5 RAM, 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM and 128GB SSD. The i7 variant is coupled with Nvdia GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5 RAM, 16GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM and 256 GB of NVMe PCle SSD. Both these variants have 1TB of 2.5-inch hard drive.

The keyboard supports 16 million colors over four zones and has anti-ghosting capability, with a 30-key rollover for precise gaming inputs. For connectivity purpose, the device has 4 USB 3.0 ports, a single USB Type-C port, HDMI 2.0, Ethernet and microphone/headphone jacks. Two 4K monitors can be connected to it through the HDMI 2.0 and USB-C ports.

For heat dissipation, the laptop has large heat pipes; a combination of 3+2 large diameter heat pipes along with four fan outlets. It has 46% of air-intake grills on its build. Under the hood, the device has a 55Wh battery that allows up to 5.5 hours of local video playback and 6.5 hours of web browsing.

For premium audio experience, there are two 3W speakers, with Dolby Atmos and Sony Hi-res audio support. There is also a 1MP web camera with a digital array microphone.

The Mi MIX 2S was also launched at the same event as the laptop. The smartphone surprisingly does not bear a design similar to iPhone X, though it has vertical dual-rear cameras. The cameras include two 12MP sensors and supports dynamic bokeh and scene recognition. The AI-based scene recognition is said to recognize up to 206 scenes. The 5MP front camera has HDR and facial unlocking capabilities. The handset comes with a ceramic body, which is curved on the four sides. It bears a 5.99-inch full HD display with 18:9 aspect ratio. There is a fingerprint sensor at the rear panel. The smartphone also supports Google’s ARCore.

The lowest price of Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S is CNY 3,299 (approx. Rs.34,200) and it is available in black and white color options. The smartphone is currently available for pre-booking in China, and the actual sale is scheduled for April 3. Both the laptop and Mi MIX 2S are not available for sale in India as of now.
