In what was a frustrating affair for Colin Freakshow Fletcher and a frustrating watch, Anthony Dizy takes the victory. The Frenchman travelled to Newcastle to fight crowd favourite ‘Freakshow’ Fletcher. However the crowd was left disappointed as Dizy used his superior ground game to dominate.
The Englishman attempted to use his reach and weight advantage from the start by taking the centre. However he soon found himself on his back, as the smaller more compact fighter drove him to the ground, and controlled him in side control. There the action largely stayed with sporadic transition and strikes on the ground.
Freakshow again tried to use his range at the start of the second round. However his long legs were caught throwing a kick and was quickly taken to the canvas. Try as he may he could not escape the dominant grip of the European fighter. “La Masse” unleashed short chopping elbows to the head and body but again there was very little action. The crowd sprung to life as Fletcher attempted the triangle. However the cheers were quickly extinguished as the Frenchman slipped out with ease.
The start of round three mirrored the previous two as Fletcher tried to use his Thai boxing stance to keep it at range. However despite sprawling to defend a takedown he was again put on his back. This lead to a scramble against the cage but Dizy was quickly in control. The 34 year old tried to use his long legs to create submission opportunities but nothing was working for him. He spent the vast majority of the fight on his back giving Anthony Dizy a dominant victory.
