Update, August 29, 2018 (9:22AM ET): Nintendo has confirmed that its next mobile title, Dragalia Lost, will launch in the U.S., Japan, and other select regions on September 27.

Co-developed by Granblue Fantasy studio Cygames, the action RPG had been expected to launch only in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau with a global release to follow. While there’s still no word on a wider international release, Nintendo has added the U.S. to the first batch of countries that’ll get to experience the game late next month.

In addition, the official Nintendo of America Twitter account has also shared details of an upcoming Nintendo Direct livestream where we’re likely to see the game in action properly for the first time. The livestream will kick off over on YouTube at 8:30PM PT later today (August 29). We’ve embedded the stream below so you don’t miss out!

Original article, April 27, 2018 (5:26AM PT): It took Nintendo a long time, but it eventually embraced mobile gaming in late 2016. Now, it looks like the legendary games company is ready to bring an original IP to smartphones in the form of Dragalia Lost.

The action RPG will be released in summer 2018, Nintendo announced in a press statement, with co-development duties handled by the Japanese firm and Cygames. The latter studio is responsible for a slew of Japanese mobile titles, such as Granblue Fantasy, Shadowverse, Knights of Glory, and Disney Fantasy Quest.

“The gaming application will be released globally, starting with Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau,” Nintendo confirmed. “With the support of Nintendo’s group companies, it will launch in North America and Europe as well.” Nintendo has also purchased a 5 percent stake in Cygames with an eye on future projects.

Editor’s Pick

Details are pretty thin right now, although the above trailer shows a role-playing game with Chibi-style character models and what appears to be real-time combat.

Dragalia Lost is due for release on Android and iOS. Here’s hoping the game isn’t heavy-handed with in-app purchases, like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

It’s not the only Nintendo game coming to mobile devices in the next 12 months, as the company confirmed that Mario Kart Tour will launch within the fiscal year (which ends in March 2019). The two new additions will bring to five the number of Nintendo games on smartphones, joining Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

You can check out the Google Play listing via the button below, but pre-registration isn’t available for Western customers just yet.
