#GETITGIRL Lesson No 29

As we established, in Lesson no 3, you are not a robot.  Since then, I’m sure you’ve kicked your bad habits, stopped making excuses for yourself and are now on your way to a happy, Successful and productive life… right?  If you’re struggling with productivity it’s time to introduce some new habits into your morning routine.  The first little portion of your day will set the tone for your entire day.  If you start it off on social media, you’re setting yourself up for some procrastination and distraction (unless it’s part of your job, of course). If you start off reading depressing news stories, you’ll have a sad cloud over your day.  If you start off drinking – well… you’ll be drunk for work and could probably lose your job. Your morning is super important.  Here are 6 tips to help you wake up to a successful and productive day.

1. Wake up early:

This is self explanatory. If you start the day in a panic, you’ll be scrambling to find your brain. If you start your day snoozing, you better believe you’ll be catching up until the evening.

2. Start with a question:

What is it that you want to accomplish today? Your top priorities should be the first thing you think about. Do not let anything distract you before you’ve set your goals for the day. The key to a successful morning is making sure that your first thoughts are productive thoughts.

3. Simulate:

Do a little simulation of the day ahead and how you’ll manage to cross everything off your to-do list. Choose a project or a mini-goal from that list you created in lesson 27 and make it a priority to conquer that task before you go to bed.

4. Give your motivation a boost:

To set the tone for a successful day, kick it off with some motivation.  Read a book or a #getitgirl post, study your dream board (if you don’t have one, you should make one), listen to a podcast while working out at the gym, or depending on your beliefs, you can even meditate or pray.  Whatever you do, make sure it puts you in the right mindset to tackle the challenges that lie ahead.

5. Eat good:

While we are huge advocates of treatin yo’self (I mean, have you seen our instagram posts?), you gotta make sure your body is at least getting the proper nutrients so that you don’t get foggy, fuzzy, cranky or sleepy halfway through the day.

6. Leave the house with a smile:

Studies show that your facial expressions can actually affect your mood.  Even a fake smile can elevate your mood – so before you head out the door, make sure you plaster the biggest, cheesiest grin on your face and tackle the day with some positive vibes.
