Hadiza Bala Usman, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has said that the successful berthing of Africa’s biggest Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) unit, EGINA, has shown the capacity and efficiency of the technical team of the NPA, Daily Trust reports.
Usman also said that the arrival of EGINA has further proven that the Federal Government policy liberalizing the oil and Gas Logistics operations in the country has finally ended the regime of monopoly in the sector. She said EGINA can be replicated at any port location of the investor’s choice in the nearest future.
In a speech which she delivered during a grand reception organized by the management of LADOL to receive the rig, Usman, noted that EGINA would further advance the Federal Government’s local content policy with numerous other multiplier effects on the economy.
Chairman of LADOL, Ladi Jadesimi, congratulated the management of the NPA for the authority’s investment in the acquisition of the tugs, which he noted aided the safe navigation of the FPSO through the Lagos harbor to the LADOL Free Zone.
