What is Spot Reducing?
Well, spot reducing is the assumption that if you work out certain areas of your Body or eat certain foods that you can target a specific area of your body and lose fat there. And only there. This is an idea that has been circulating long before Pinterest and it’s endless list of pins that state if you do these 5 moves for 7 days you’ll have abs.
Now, I’m not saying that those workouts are bad. They’re just lying to you. Those workouts are targeting the areas they say they are, and you’re very likely burning fat but not the way you think you are.
Spot Reducing isn’t achievable without cosmetic surgery. There are hundreds of foods that help reduce fat, and every workout done with effort is absolutely burning fat but the truth is that its overall fat loss. No amount of crunches or situps will get you a flat stomach and abs. They will absolutely build those abs but you’ll never see them unless you’re eating properly.
The thing is, all of these pins set you up to fail. You’re looking for certain results that you’re not going to get. Your body is changing but, discouragement usually sets in before you can see any changes in your body. The fastest way to lower your Body Fat and see results is to skip the endless amount of crunches and change your diet. You can lose weight and Lower Body Fat without even having to step into a gym or start a YouTube workout video.
Back To Flexible Dieting
Macros, again, are the most effective way to lose weight, lower body fat, and not feel restricted. Tracking your macros gives you full control of your body and what you eat. Sugar cravings? Eat more avocados and other healthy fats. Want chips? Pan fry veggies with pink Himalayan salt and virgin olive oil instead.
But the bottom line is that you can’t target an area of fat and think that it will start to shrink. Even if you do full body workout plans, that energy is going to waste if you don’t eat for your goals. Fitness is 80% diet, 20% exercise!
