Wurth Zebra Universal Bit Assortment Review
Wurth Zebra Universal Bit Assortment Covers So Much More Than the Basics
Why do you need a comprehensive bit set such as the Wurth Zebra Universal Bit set assortment? Most mechanics can tell you a story or three.
Wurth Zebra Universal Bit Set
I used to have an older boat with an early 1980’s Johnson 25 horsepower engine. Even though the engine was 25 years old, its simple recoil start and tiller steering purred like a kitten every time we took it out…
…Up until the boat capsized during an early spring cold front and the engine sucked up saltwater into every nook and cranny. It never ran right again.
The guy that borrowed the boat on that infamous trip replaced the engine (and the boat for that matter) with a newer model. But it was one of those problem engines that had a chronically bad attitude.
Just before a fishing trip, it acted up and needed repair. That’s when the problem hit—I needed a particular security bit size and didn’t have it.
This was before Amazon Prime and the fastest delivery I could get was a week. That was just to get into the engine—I had no idea what I would need for the actual repair from there.
Needless to say, the fishing trip was cancelled and I was disappointed.
What You Need, When You Need It
The beauty of this Wurth Zebra Universal bit set is that it has just about everything you need for any job. There are 105 pieces total that come in a slim metal case with a foam insert to keep everything in its proper place. the insert also makes it really easy to tell if there’s a bit missing and which one it is.
Here’s what you get:

- PZ0 – PZ3 Pozidriv (2 x PZ1, 3 x PZ2, 7 total)

We absolutely LOVE having such a comprehensive set of bits in one location. It’s no longer a matter of finding the bits. No, the security bits. Not that one, the other set of security bits. Ugh! The one that has the Clutch bits in it. Okay, now where’s the 1/4-inch square adapter?
You get the idea.
When you take each of the bits out for the first time, they’re pretty snug in their foam. It can be a little bit of a pain. But once you take them out a time or two, it’s a lot easier. In fact, you may just want to go through each one and remove it once when it arrives.
The metal case is also really nice to have. It’s small enough to fit in a toolbox or bag on mobile calls and slim enough to fit into your small tool chest drawers. Because you can close and latch it, you’re less likely to get dust and debris in there.
The Bottom Line
When you buy the Wurth Zebra Universal Bit Assortment, you get a lot of pieces those cheaper sets leave out. When you have the tools you need when you need them, it makes a difference. Diagnosing the problem right away instead of waiting an extra day or three for the right bit before you can even tell your client what the problem earns trust.
When you get your clients back on the road or the water quickly, that trust turns into repeat business and that’s certainly worth spending $100 on this bit set in our opinion.
By the way, that problem engine had compression issues among other things that weren’t worth the expense of fixing. After diagnosing the extent of the problems, we just parted it out.
