Here is something I come across quite often working with other IT support people and working with Vmware. A lot of people forget how to do some of the simple tasks such as tagging a Vlan on a Virtual machine. Especially when working with people who are new to VMware. So if you are one of those people who have forgotten how to tag a VLAN in VMware here is a simple guide.
How to tag a VLAN in VMWare
First login to vcenter, this doesn’t matter if you use the client or the web client its essentially the same principle.
On the settings screen select your network adapter.
Look to the bottom right and find the Network Label section. In here there is a drop down menu with your current VLANS in there and it will be defaulted to your selected one.
Just select the dropdown and change to the VLAN you want to tag in VMware.
Once this is down Click OK to save the settings, the machine will reconfigure and the network willnow be tagged to whatever VLAN you selected.
