Improvements in Android Marshmallow: Five Key Features added in Android Marshmallow over Lollipop. As we all know that Android 6.0 is now named as Marshmallow, the whole world is waiting for experiencing this new version of Android. The name has been in a conflict in the beginning days as it was called by many names. But now it has been clarified by Google Inc. and other sources about the name.

Android Marshmallow Key features over Lollipop:


There are five key features which have been added in the latest version of android named Marshmallow. The major improvements that we have seen in Android Marshmallow are listed below.

  • Google Now on Tap
  • App Permissions
  • Finger Print Support
  • Doze-Power Management
Lets take a brief over the key features of Android Marshmallow 6.0:

Android Pay:

Google's Android Pay will be out from the latest update in Android smartphones called Marshmallow update. This will let users to make payments using NFC and take advantage of card emulation techniques for tap-to-pay services. In the Google Play store, just pay by using finger print payment which will be a security over other issues.

Google Now on Tap:

Google Now will is significantly improved in the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Users will be able to run "Ok Google" from any screen on the handset. The other major update in Google Now on Tap is that it has an updated option called Now on Tap, which will come to assist you from any screen.

App Permissions:

App Permissions is the major feature in Android Marshmallow above all the key features. This has been the major thing in this update of Android as it give much preference for their users as they can select what applications they can give permissions and what applications they don't.

Finger Print Support:

Fingerprint scanner in smartphones is the highest standard of security and Google will standardise this feature in Android Marshmallow. Google is also working with different devices to make a standard interface that can work with their sensors to evoke fingerprint scanner, which can be used to make payments, unlock device, purchase apps and more.

Doze-Power Management:

Finally, Google has a solution in its new Android Marshmallow update. It will add a new power management feature called Doze to optimise the background processes which will be running at present time, resulting in less power usage. Doze is also designed to understand if there is any activity in the smartphone using the motion detecting sensor and shut down certain processes. When the device is in locked mode the apps which are required will run and other apps will be paused and when the screen is turned on, the apps will resume. This has increased approximately two hours of battery life in Nexus devices.
