Food Trip: Panagatan

Panagatan is one of the closest seafood restaurant from the Laguindingan Airport of Cagayan De Oro (CDO).
Panagatan in English means fishing area.
That was our first stop when we went to CDO. We had to eat dinner before reaching the hotel since we will be arriving late since our arrival time was quarter to 5PM.

And I was actually surprised when we were about to land to the airport.
Everything looked green and blue and I don't see any other building other than the airport.
It felt like a getaway from the busy streets in Cebu.
I got a new favorite, those black thingies on the tarmac caused by the braking of the plane, they look beautiful.

Sunny, green field, and a calm sea. Peaceful and very fresh air gave us a warm feeling of the place.
Mindanao greeted us warmly with its nature.

We took a taxi to Panagatan. Be careful, if you are planning on walking towards the highway, well please do not do that. The airport is really far from the highway and it is a long walk unlike other airports of the country. There aren't any place to buy food outside the airport as well.
And oh! The airport has a lot of glass walls making it really spacious in spite of it being a small one.

We took a taxi for 30 minutes which costs us 300+ pesos for panagatan. There were few people and most of them were in groups.
Sun was setting and it was starting to go dark. We went to look for a table that is near the sea and far from the other groups of people and has a good view of the sea. But it was a bad idea, because the place is quite big, the waiters could not see us and could not serve us the refill of iced tea when we needed one.

The place is just beside the road and it has a huge "PANAGATAN" blocks/signage for everyone to see. But sine we were so hungry from the waiting and the flight, we just went straight and ordered our food.

View from our table. While waiting for our orders to arrive, we took some photos and I practiced on taking Long Exposure shots.

Calvin does not look so hungry, right?
After a few minutes, our order has arrived.
We have ordered the following:
Battered Chicken
The chicken has good crispy exterior which doesn't feel like breaded chicken at all.
Spicy Big Crab
Seafood is the best. The spicy seafood is best. Smelling the sea breeze while eating this feels so heavenly and being a part of the sea. The vegetables are half cooked so they were crunchy and feels good in the mouth.

Baked Scallops
Scallops were good too, quite small around 1 inch in diameter and the shells are wide.

Eggplant Salad
Someone doesn't want to eat the Eggplants, so another has to finish the whole plate but due to a lot of dish on the table, there were residues. It was good though, but it is best enjoyed if everyone eats eggplants or love eggplants a lot.

So here's a before and after photo.

And obviously... after... :D
Good food means, happy life and healthy tummy.

So for your reference, you can check the menu here.

We spent around 1k plus but not more than 1.5k.

When you go to Cagayan De Oro, I recommend this. for those who are in the city, there is a branch in Ayala too.

Happy Food Trip!
