How To Handle Sugar Cravings

We all have that one weakness when it comes to food. Mine, like a lot of peoples, is sweets. I see a cake, I want the cake, I usually will eat the cake. Like the whole thing, no joke. This is an issue because one day my body won’t burn right through those simple carbs and I’d hate for that day to take me by surprise. Also, my usually blemish free skin can’t handle it.

So I’ve looked into ways to curve the craving that isn’t drinking water until I float away. Smoothies!

I had this friend once and she’s vegan. Convinced me that I should buy this Vega protein powder. So I did, and it wasn’t cheap either. The label looked great, had sources of clean grains and 2 servings of vegetables per scoop. Then I tasted it. It is chalky and all around unpleasant. So It’s been sitting in the cabinet for the last 6 months, mocking me every time I go to get granola. In an attempt to use it up I’ve incorporated it into the smoothies.

What you need:

  • 1/2 cup of Original Plain 2% Astro Yogourt
  • 84 ml Skim Milk
  • 1 Scoop Protein & Greens Vanilla Vega Powder
  • 1.5 cups Frozen Mango Chunks

This makes 1 servings with these macros:

  • 310 calories
  • 2.9g fat
  • 37.3g carbs
  • 30g protein
  • 29.3g sugar

Now, Sugar is bold here since it’s the topic of choice for this post. This would be a scary amount of sugar to consume if it were refined. I use Great Value frozen fruit from Walmart because it’s just fruit, there are zero added sugars and syrups. When buying frozen always check to make sure the only ingredients for your fruits and veggies are just that, fruits and veggies.

I find these smoothies sweet enough that any craving for junk food is put away and I’m also full, so this solves 2 problems at once!
