Beauty Secrets: Charcoal

Let me start by saying that I am not talking about the hunks of rocks that you dump in your grill on summer days. I am talking about the activated Charcoal found in a range of Skin care products. Charcoal helps draw nasties, like acne, out of your pores. This is what makes it such a great ingredient in the fight against acne. Being a person who suffers from oily skin and acne I have searched long and hard for a great acne fighter that didn’t damage my skin.

In all my years living with blackheads and whiteheads I have tried every acne treatment out there. But they either did nothing or made my skin throw up a white flag. As most skin care enthusiasts will tell you drying all the oil out of your skin is not the answer. This will only cause your skin to produce more oils. Scrubbing your skin to keep anything nasty out doesn’t really help either. Don’t get me wrong, cleansing your face is a must, but exfoliating within an inch of your skin’s life does not help.

If you are waging this war on acne along with me charcoal may just be the answer you’re looking for. Charcoal fights all kinds of acne and even helps combat oily skin. Charcoal gets deep into your skin to draw out impurities without damaging your skin. Charcoal is like a detox for your skin. Charcoal is even known to help get out stubborn blackheads.

Nearly every skin care company has a line of charcoal products that include everything from scrubs to masks to cleansers. I use the tomato-charcoal scrub from Yesto religiously to help smooth out my complexion. When I have strawberry nose the All Kill stick from RiRe helps get them out.
