Siebel Support Engineer - Worldpay

Key Purpose of the Role:

  • Senior Middleware Support Team Analyst/Engineer within Worldpay I&O Hosting and Application Services
  • Responsible for providing Middleware Engineering support for a wide range of Middleware products, including 3rd line BAU support for Production and Pre-Production environments
  • Middleware support responsibilities include Installation, Configuration, Maintenance and Live Support of Middleware services hosted on Linux and Microsoft operating systems in a highly virtualised environment and subject to strict Change Management and Service Level Agreements
  • To represent the Hosting & Application Services Middleware Team within Worldpay Infrastructure & Operations
  • Provide extremely high standards of service from a Middleware perspective in terms of service maintenance, new capability requests, fault prevention and resolution
  • The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing technical expertise within the following technologies:

o Siebel Enterprise Server

o Siebel Gateway Server

o Siebel Enterprise Application Integration (EAI)

o Siebel Web Server Extension (SWSE)

o Oracle Enterprise Data Quality and Siebel EDQ Connector

  • Ability to work individually as well as in a team within an onshore/offshore model

Key Responsibilities:

  • 3rd Line Support for all services under the responsibility of Worldpay Middleware Team, within the Production and Pre-Production Environments
  • Rapid response to Production and Pre-Production Incidents raised to Middleware by the Worldpay Command Centre, in accordance with agreed Service Operating Model Standards
  • Provide Incident Fault Diagnosis and Resolution, engaging other Worldpay support teams as required
  • Delivery of Middleware Support services to agreed Service Level and Operational Level Agreements
  • Proactive management of the WorldPay Middleware environments and recommendation of measures to improve service delivery
  • Ongoing evaluation of Worldpay Middleware services to identify potential issues such as Capacity, Performance, Resource, Process, Patching, Security, Vulnerability plus mitigation actions required
  • Escalation of critical issues in accordance with designated processes and procedures
  • Contribute to ongoing Middleware Service Improvements and promote knowledge sharing within the team to ensure consistent levels of support from all team members across the full Middleware product set
  • Produce and maintain relevant Technical and Operational Middleware documentation for Production and Pre-Production environments
  • Provide full and effective cover for other members of the team as required during absence
  • Raising and co-ordination of Change Requests including representation to Change Management and the Worldpay Change Advisory Board as required
  • Execution of Changes to the Production and Pre-Production environments under authorised and controlled change requests
  • Participate in Middleware on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support
  • Participate in discretionary projects/engineering tasks as requested by Line Management
  • Ensure that WorldPay Security Policies and Guidelines are adhered to for all Middleware services
  • Interface and maintain relations with other WorldPay teams, including Application Support and Business teams
  • Maintain excellent and effective working relationships with other I&O Teams, to ensure high standards of service during multi-team support activities and Incidents
  • Participate in the shaping and continuous improvement of the Middleware Support team with minimal or no supervision to ensure systems are reliable and fit for purpose

Experience:

  • 4+ years experience in Administration, Support and Maintenance of the following, in a High Availability Production environment:

o Siebel Enterprise Server

o Siebel Gateway Server

o Siebel Enterprise Application Integration (EAI)

o Siebel Web Server Extension (SWSE)

o Siebel Database Configuration Utilities

o Oracle Enterprise Data Quality and Siebel EDQ Connector

o Siebel Connectors

o Siebel Sub-systems

o Siebel configuration

o Oracle HTTP Server (on supported Linux platforms)

o Oracle Customer Hub

o Siebel Webserver

o Siebel Tools

o Siebel eScript and Browser script, Workflow, EIM, Web services

o Siebel ADM

o Siebel Release

o Unix RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 and 6 or Oracle Enterprise Linux

  • 3+ years experience of third line support for business critical production systems
  • Siebel environment build / BAU support / Upgrades & Patching experience
  • Experience of administering Linux hosted Siebel implementations in a Secure, Virtualised environment

Skills and abilities:

  • Strong analytical and Siebel troubleshooting skills coupled with a methodical approach to fault investigation and resolution
  • Able to manage multiple concurrent work requests in a fast-paced work environment
  • Service management ethos and disciplined approach to management of support tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating a variety of influencing styles to enable effective completion of tasks both individually and within groups
  • Builds sustainable relationships with colleagues and key individuals in the business and IT team from executive management through to technical levels
  • Shows a desire to take the initiative, moving issues forward with clarity. Demonstrates an ability to think 'outside the box' while defining solutions in a workable form
  • Experience of working in an onshore/offshore mode
