Barcelona has hit back at comments made by La Liga President Javier Tebas about the club’s supporters at the upcoming Copa del Rey Final.
Tebas said the game should be stopped if fans whistle the Spanish national anthem but Barcelona spokesperson spokesman Josep Vives has issued a stinging response.
“His comments are unacceptable and inappropriate from someone who represents every club. We ask that he abstains from making these type of comments and focuses on his work.
”We demand that he focuses on what he know how to do: the economic and commercial organisation [of La Liga] which benefits every team.
”And that he absolutely abstains from making comments like this, which are not in reference to his competition, nor do they help to generate a good atmosphere for the Copa del Rey final.”
Barcelona takes on Sevilla at the Wanda Metropolitano on April 21 and will be hoping to capture the trophy for the fourth year in a row.
