Jaguars sign Brandon Linder to five-year, $51.7 million contract extension

The Jacksonville Jaguars and 25-year-old offensive lineman Brandon Linder have agreed to a contract extension, according to a report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, signing a five-year extension worth $51.7 million with $24 million guaranteed. If he stays at center, Linder is now the highest-paid center in NFL history.

Originally drafted in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Linder began his career for the Jaguars starting 15 games at right guard as rookie. Linder played just three games in 2015 before going on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Prior to the start of the 2016 season, the Jaguars decided to shift Linder to the center position where it appears he will spend the next few seasons as the starter.

Linder is the first draft pick by general manager Dave Caldwell to receive a second contract and likely will be the first of a couple of players from the 2014 draft class to receive one.
