Pope Francis is a hero to the left most of the time. But once in a while he comes out against their prevailing PC dictums and notions. Meanwhile, the mainstream media substantially ignores most of those occasions.

In case you missed it ( I did), a year ago the Pope actually told a group of Polish Catholic Bishops that the new gender theory now being taught to children in schools – “that everyone can choose their own sex”  is “the exact opposite” of God’s creation and plan for humanity. I tracked down the original story in the Catholic Herald:

Francis told the Polish bishops: “Today, children are taught this at school: that everyone can choose their own sex. And why do they teach this? Because the books come from those people and institutions who give money,” he said.

“God created man and woman; God created the world like this and we are doing the exact opposite.”

“…We are living at a time when humankind as the image of God is being annihilated,” the Pope said.

Response: Amen Pope Francis. The Pope is not one of my favorite leaders but once in a while he stands up for the truth and shocks everyone including his usual liberal supporters. Sometimes they forget that he is actually a ‘Christian’ leader who follows the Bible every once in a while.

The idea that a child could ‘choose’ their own gender would have been laughed at just 10 years ago. But now that is a progressive dictum and those who choose to disagree have been singled out as “wicked” folks that need to be punished. At first government and public schools and institutions were targeted. But now several states like California are demanding that everyone needs to bow to the new transgender idol. Now even private schools and institutions are being sued if they do not comply and properly ‘accommodate.’

It use to be the liberal line that LGBT people needed to be accommodated and tolerated but the tables have been turned upside down. Now the LGBT activists themselves have become intolerant and have called for religious folks who do not bow to the new non-biological gender theories to be punished and discriminated against. Particularly conservative Christian folks who they would like to put into a non-public four-walls ‘freedom of worship’ closet. Now there is an increasing drumbeat from the left that ‘freedom of religion’ needs to be curtailed or limited when it comes to LGBT issues and rights. That already seems to be the case with the other First Amendment right of ‘free speech.’ So much for accommodation and toleration when it comes to conservative Christians.               *Top
