The leaves contain high amounts of vitamin C & iron as well as silicon & allantoin.
Lungwort leaves can be eaten as a vegetable, either raw in salads, or cooked, but it is most often used in medicine for its expectorant & demulcent properties.

Externally, it can be used for washing & dressing cuts & wounds & as an ointment for haemorrhoids.
The leaves can be used fresh to stop bleeding.

Lungwort can be used in the treatment of coughs & bronchitis, especially where associated with upper respiratory catarrh & for inflammation of throat or lungs.
Very useful for treating of diarrhoea, especially in children. 

Lungwort is an excellent Herb that is very effective for whooping cough, chronic bronchitis, asthma & was even used in treating tuberculosis & spitting of blood

PRECAUTIONS:




RECIPES:

Leaves can be added to salads, used as a pot herb or Cooked vegetable.

Infusion for lung conditions:
1 tbsp of leaves & flowering tops of Lungwort,Coltsfoot,Lobelia
Pour over 1 cup of boiling water.
Steep for 10 min.
Drink 3 times a day.

MAGIC:

It was used as a herb that was supposed to offer protection against evil magic & evil spirits & was sometimes used to identify witches.
