Lately, I have been thinking about the projects I have been involved in over the past months, and I've come to realise that in my approach of accepting everything that seems remotely interesting, I have become quite bored of the whole process. I've lost focus. So I have thought hard about what I do enjoy working on, and the things that I most enjoy writing about.
Trying to please everybody was not really working for me, so I have made the decision to focus purely on the following:
Online media - I most enjoy writing blog posts and website text for small businesses. I like the feeling of helping business owners grow and flourish in their work, and if I can do that with my words, then that's what I want to be doing.
Favourite subjects - I have written for many different industries, but some of them have been, frankly, tedious to write for. Part of what I do involves some background research, but if it doesn't catch my interest, then the writing is hard and it falls flat. That not only lets the client down, but it lets me down as well.
So I have chosen to write largly about the following subjects, which I know fairly well, and have enough interest in to research deeply:
- Green Energy/Environmental
- Manufacturing
- Travel
- Interior Design/Style
- Wine/Food & Drink
