Maximizing your Apartment Space for a Garden

Tags: garden

For those that rent or own an apartment, many think that it would be nearly impossible to start their own Garden due to a lack of space. While a lack of space does make it more difficult, you can still start your own garden no matter how small your apartment space is as long as you know how to maximize the space available. In this post, we will be listing simple tips that you may consider that can help you start your own garden even with the small space that you have in your apartment.

When starting your garden, one of the first things you need to do is to not underestimate the “power” of your walls. Aside from having a decorative purpose, you can also use your wall to create a vertical garden to hang your garden pots, as this is one of the best ways maximize your small space. If you decide to do this, there are a lot of different things you can buy at places like Home Depot that will allow you to create this. If you do not want to spend any money doing this, you can create your own mounting system. One thing you can do is turn a simple wood slab into a shelf and hang it on your wall so you can place your plants there.

Another thing that you can also use for your apartment garden is a pallet. One good thing about this is that it is spaced perfectly and can fit in different plants if you have very limited space. All you need to do is to be creative in using the pallet and also make sure that it is well secured on your wall, as there is the potential of it falling over if not properly installed.

If your space is limited, one way to accommodate different plants is by creating a hanging garden. This works well if you have a lot of potted plants with not much space for them. Just make sure that you create your hanging garden where there is enough sun, as they will need it to grow properly. If you do not like the idea of potted plants above your head, you can use the string method that is one of the emerging ways to start a hanging garden. If your balcony is not big enough, you can be creative by nesting your pots vertically instead of side by side.

These are just some of the ways to maximize your space in your apartment to start your own garden. Even though your space may be small, you can still have a beautiful garden if you want to.
