John Deere looked for and came up with a one machine answer for what has long been a two machine problem. The video below is a short film from 1967 when the grader first made its debut from. At first glance, the JD570 may not look any different than other graders on the market, but when you get in the operator’s seat and put the JD570 to work on different jobs and look closer, you see that this is not just another motor grader.

What was the John Deere idea for a new and different motor grader? It all started with getting away from the idea that you needed a big machine for the rough and long straightaway jobs and another small machine for the light and enclosed areas. To solve this, Deere invented a upper-middle sized grader that could handle most rough grading jobs but was also maneuverable enough to fit in tight quarters where previously only a small machine was able.
The John Deere idea for a better motor grader didn’t stop at producing a more versatile plate, but a grader that would be easy to operate, allow more precise blade control and more quickly adapt to different jobs. You may be wondering how Deere accomplished this. We did so by adding power steering, a full PowerShift hydraulic operation of all blade controls with hydraulic position locks and fast one-man control of all blade positions.
