So, this past weekend I had the pleasure of attending a wedding in Chicago. I will sum the wedding up with one word: BEAUTIFUL. Like most weddings right? While catching up with old college friends, I was able to obtain a valuable pearl of wisdom. A friend said these words to my best friend and I: “You’re beautiful, intelligent women, don’t rush anything. Be patient. Don’t settle.” Now I have heard these words time and time again. It was in this moment that I actually took the time to sit back and really ponder over those words.

Pictured above is one of my favorite things to do at an amusement park. Ride Roller coasters. WHOOOOOOOO! However, I see this roller coaster as a representation of the many things that I rushed to do because I was impatient. I would find myself upside down, taking sharp turns, and rolling down hills at high speeds. Patience was NOT my virtue. In the midst of making these impulse decisions, I settled and began to become complacent. I figured since no doors were being opened that maybe I reached the level of success that I was destined for, WRONG! While I enjoy the thrill of roller coasters, I don’t like the thrills that I have encountered in life due to being impatient and settling.

We all have a plan for our lives. We dream about success. We may even compare ourselves to others and what we see on television. What we don’t see is the process. We see the finished product! Your process is different. You were built different. So instead of hopping on the roller coaster to enjoy the thrills of life, BE PATIENT, DON’T SETTLE. The ride will definitely be much smoother.
