First International Day Of Sign Languages – News To Telecast In Sign Language

News will be Telecast in sign Language to recognize the first international day of sign languages, for an entire week. In association with NISH (National Institute of Speech and Hearing), specific regional television channels have decided to telecast week-long programmes in sign languages.

Reports have found that the students and staff of NISH are presenting news in sign language on channels, like Asianet News, Manorama News etc.

Sign language news telecast will be conducted on Asianet News at 8 a.m., 2 p.m., and then at 4 p.m in the evening for a duration of five days. Manorama News channel on the other hand, will telecast the news for two days at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Kairali is also another news channel, which is found to present news in sign language at 7 p.m. for a week.

Further, Mathrubhumi News channel conduct the news at 8 p.m. for a week. News 18 will also have a special programme telecast on Monday from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

This is not the end; there will be an International Week of the Deaf, which is supposed to be conducted on Monday at 10 a.m at NISH. One year Diploma course in Indian Sign Language Interpretation is also conducted by NISH.

At this event, presidential address will be delivered by Special Secretary Biju Prabhakar and inaugural address by Governor P. Sathasivam. Sign language presentation would be delivered by Sandeep Krishnan.
