Niger: military regime asks Togo to mediate

The Military Regime in Niger, which came to power through a coup, has asked Togo to mediate in its negotiations with the international community, particularly with West African countries that had imposed sanctions on Niger. Togo has been engaging in dialogue with the military regime and has agreed to act as a facilitator in the dialogue between Niger and the international community. France has also been withdrawing its troops from Niger at the request of the military regime, and Togo has been designated as a guarantor for the French military withdrawal. The military regime in Niger has rejected calls to restore constitutional order and is advocating for a transitional period of up to three years.
