Where can I find the best ramen in Stockholm

Spicy Miso Ramen from Tokyo Ramen

Ramen, the traditional Japanese dish, has become increasingly popular in Stockholm in recent years. It feels like a new place is popping up every month. Once beloved restaurants like Totemo are now not even in our top 5 anymore.  If you’re not sure what ramen is: The dish consists of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a meat or fish-based broth, often flavored with soy sauce or miso, and topped with ingredients such as sliced pork, dried seaweed, and green onions. If you’re looking for the best ramen in Stockholm, here are five places you should check out. (Of course as a first step you will need to reach the city after you’ve landed in Stockholm. For that you can find our guide here on how to get from Arlanda airport to Stockholm city centre.)

Tokyo Ramen
Tokyo Ramen is a cozy, authentic Japanese restaurant located in the Norrmalm neighborhood. This place is very central (close to the shopping streets and central station). There’s often a line, but the service goes quite quick. This restaurant is your best bet to find authentic ramen, as you can choose from classic such as the Tonkotsu ramen and the Spicy Miso ramen. The Shoyu niku ramen with beef is another highlight. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the noodles are cooked to perfection. The restaurant also offers gyoza as a side dish.

Take Ramen
Take Ramen is one of the most popular ramen spots in Stockholm, located in the Vasastan district. Here too you’ll find the classics, such as Spicy Miso, Tonkotsu and Shoyu. This is probably the most cozy place to sit and have your ramen. If you’re visiting in the summer, it’s also very close to the great (and very popular) ice cream place Snö.

Stiernan Ramen
Stiernan Ramen is a cozy, casual spot located in the old town of Stockholm: Gamla Stan. The space is limited but the brother is deep and rich, the noodles are cooked to perfection and the pork chashu is some of the best you’ll find in Stockholm.

Tengu
Tengu is located in the more posh neighborhood of Östermalm and you can really tell when you enter. This place is most focused on the presentation, and also offers cocktails and the highest amount of side dishes. That said, the star is the ramen and it’s outstanding here. The brother is rich, subtle and fragrant. We do recommend you skip the chili chips as a side dish, as those are coming directly out of a storebought chip bag.

Tonari Ramen
Tonari Ramen is a casual ramen place located in the trendy Södermalm district. The menu doesn’t feature classic tonkotsu, but has some other favorites such as Tantan ramen and Tori Paitan. The staff is friendly and the place is very laidback.

We consider all of these places to be some of the best ramen spots in Stockholm, each offering unique and delicious ramen options. Whether you’re a fan of classic tonkotsu or looking to try something new and unique, these restaurants are sure to satisfy your cravings for this delicious Japanese dish. That said, Stockholm has its fair amount of ramen places at this point, some more authentic than others. Do you feel we left out some of your favorites? Is there a new place we should check out?
