EXCLUSIVE: Jubin Nautiyal on why he remakes 80s and 90s music

Singer Jubin Nautiyal is one of the ace singers in the industry now who has delivered some fantastic songs. Moreover, he is also known for singing remakes of popular classics such as Humma Humma in the 2017 film Ok Jaanu (Originally sung by Remo Fernandes in the film Bombay, 1995) and Kisi Se Pyar Ho Jaye in Kaabil (originally sung by Kishore Kumar as Dil Kya Kare in Julie, 1975). He has even crooned Manike song from Thank God which is also a remake of Sri Lankan song.

Talking about the same in the recent exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Jubin says that he loves to sing remakes as he loves that era and to celebrate that time’s song.

When asked after Meethi Meethi song what’s next for Jubin, he says, “I think we will break the pattern, I think peechle 3 saal jitne hum haane nikale, jo 80s 90s ke gaane back-to-back nikale, ye mera sabse challenging phase tha life ka now easy way se starting. Now I'm finally getting to do the kind of sound that I'm enjoying personally in my life. The 80s and 90s sound I have celebrated all my life and now we are just celebrating it but now we are getting into the recreation phase. Ab hum kuch banane wale hai aage jaake and I'm really looking forward.

Kisiko impress karne ke liye nahi gaayi thi. Mene isliye nahi gayi ki uss gaane ko mein better gaa du. Uss gaane ka bhi better version bana du, it was not my thought. Me sirf unko imaandari se gaata hu kyuki mene bachpan se wo gaane sunne hai, bachpan se wo gaane pasand hai aur aaj mujhe mere bachchpan ka favourite gaane ka mauka mil raha hai. I sing it with that intention, I celebrate that song. I love that song, I love it that much ki me uss time ko, genre ko, sound ko celebrate karna chahta hu and it becomes successful recreation,” Jubin further adds.

When asked what the industry needs to work upon or improve, Jubin tells us, “I think we need to keep the art and agenda different, according to me. Our country is full of beautiful religions, cultures, races, and languages. Aisi ek lauti country hai pure world mein, itne saare log, itne saare dishaon se log aa rahe hai aur ek saath jee rahe hai, harmony mein jee rahe hai. (There are so many different kinds of people living in harmony) It is a beautiful democratic country. Humlog ko sirf ye samjhne ke zaroorat hai ki art and agenda, dono cheezein alag rakhni chahiye. Art kabhi agenda ke liye nahi bana chahiye aur agenda ko kabhi art se nahi jodna chahiye. (We need to understand one thing we need to keep art and agenda separate) Artists and art are supposed to come from freedom and agendas toh sabke apne apne hote hai. (while everyone has their own agendas)"
