Hansika Motwani is an Indian actress probably best known for her appearance in Tamil and Telugu movies. Hansika began her career starring as a child artiste in popular TV shows.

The actress became famous after appearing in the superhit Telugu Film “Desamuduru” in 2007. She got a chance to play her character alongside superstar Allu Arjun. Her performance was well praised, eventually leading Hansika to win the 55th Filmfare Awards South for Best Debut Actress.

Early Life

Hansika Pradeep Motwani was (born on August 9, 1991), in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She doesn’t belong to the family of actors, such as her father, Pradeep, a businessman, and her mother, Mona, a dermatologist.

Hansika grew up with her older brother, Prashant Motwani. In 2004, her parents separated their ways, and after that, she began living with her mother in Andheri. In terms of education, Hansika attended Podar International School before enrolling at the International Curriculum School in Mumbai.

Upon her high school graduation, she went to London to study for a B.A. in political science at Cambridge University. The Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla was her mom’s customer. She had spotted Hansika and suggested that she act in movies. Later, she got an opportunity to sign for Yahoo, but the film was delayed.

Career

In 2001, Hanskia began her television career starring as Karuna / Shona in the popular Indian TV show “Shaka Laka Boom Boom.” Then she was cast as Tina in “Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand” from 2001 to 2003.

Around that same time, Hansika was named to appear alongside Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta in the film “Koi… Mil Gaya.” She had one of the children’s roles as Priya, which earned her recognition. As a child star, she appeared in several TV shows, including “Jaago,” “Hum Kaun Hai?,” and “Aabra Ka Daabra.”

At 15, Hansika Motwani had her first significant role in the 2007 Telugu film “Desamuduru” alongside Allu Arjun. She portrayed Vaishali in the film, which earned her several accolades. Following the success, she started getting offers from big projects.

Hansika debuted in Hindi cinema, appearing in “Aap Kaa Surroor” opposite Himesh Reshammiya in 2007. After that, she was ready to make a name for herself in the Kannada film industry, so she starred in “Bindaas” with Puneeth Rajkumar in 2008.

That same year, Hansika played the role of Varalakshmi alongside popular actor Jr. NTR in the Telugu film “Kantri.” From there, she began appearing in other movies, including Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, Maska, Billa, and more.

In 2011, she made her Tamil debut with the film “Mappillai.” Hansika followed that up by appearing in “Engeyum Kadhal” and then “Velayudham.” The following year, she earned positive reviews for her immense performance in the romantic comedy movie “Oru Kal Oru Kannadi,” becoming her first runaway hit.

Later that year, Hansika received a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress in the action film “Denikaina Ready.” Next year, the actress was cast in four Tamil movies where she worked with Suriya, Karthi, and more.

2016 could have been better for Hansika, who had several flop movies such as Uyire Uyire, Pokkiri Raja, and Manithan. In the following year, she came to the spotlight once again after appearing in hit movies, including “Bogan,” “Luckunnodu,” and the Malayalam film “Villain.”

In 2019, she had a special appearance in the Telugu movie “NTR: Kathanayakudu.” That year, she was also cast in films “100” and “Tenali Ramakrishna BA. BL.” In 2022, Hansika played the main character in the Tamil thriller film “Maha.”

Outside of films, Hansika starred in several TV shows such as “Son Pari” (2002) and “Karishma Kaa Karishma” (2003), as well as appeared as a contestant in “Celebrity Fame Gurukul” in 2005. As a model, she was featured in music videos for songs like Ishq Na Karna, Mazaa, and Shreaam Pagal. 

Hansika has done endorsement work for several brands, including Samsung, Pepsi, Hyundai Santro, and TV Bournvita. She is also known for her charitable work. She has been the brand ambassador of an awareness program called “Chennai Turns Pink.”

Personal Life

Hansika began dating businessman Sohael Khaturiya. The couple got engaged in November 2022 in Paris. Their wedding ceremony was held at Mundota Fort and Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan, in December 2022.

In early 2023, Hansika was blamed for breaking up Khaturiya’s first marriage, who had wedded for the first time in 2014.
