Ardeonaig Hotel Review – Is this hotel worth staying in?

Welcome to the secret hideaway: Ardeonaig hotel. With stunning views of the banks of Loch Tay, the Ardeonaig hotel is something else. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet hotel that’s something out of the ordinary, then keep reading.

Ardeonaig is a hamlet on the southern shore of Loch Tay. This hamlet used to be the place where boats stopped to deliver coal and let passengers disembark in the past. Nowadays, there are fishing trips on Loch Tay that stop at Ardeonaig to disembark for lunch. There must have been a ferry service, as the minister once came by boat to conduct church services.

Anyways, Ardeonaig truly is a hidden gem within Scotland and nature is absolutely wonderful. There are lots of things to do in the area, including an outdoor centre (Craggan) that's well-equipped for larger groups of up to 29 people, with toilet and shower facilities and a proper drying room. There's even a dining room with the most incredible views of Loch Tay. So for these views, the outdoor centre is already worth a visit!

About Ardeonaig hotel

Ardeonaig hotel is being praised by so many people. And that’s totally understandable. The hotel exists since the 16th century, but it has been nicely refurbished into what it is today. The setting is so peaceful and rural, which can’t make it better for you to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Located on the southern side of Loch Tay and along a single-track road, it's located a bit off the beaten track.  It’s 9 miles from Kenmore and 7 miles from Killin. Once you arrive, you will be amazed by the tranquillity. There are some adjoining buildings but these are holiday lets by another business. Ardeonaig hotel has a large car park to accommodate its guests without any issues.

When you have a look at the picture above, doesn’t the hotel look lovely and romantic? This makes it a great hideaway for couples as well. Funny is that you might think: isn't this a hotel with outdated rooms? It isn’t.

Even though it’s a traditional stone building, they’ve done a good job at refurnishing the hotel. Ardeonaig hotel also has a small residents' lounge, an attractive dining room, and a bar downstairs which is a great place to end your day. From the windows, you can get nice views of the garden and the river which is especially nice during the spring and summer months.

I can't stress enough that nature is absolutely wonderful. The area is great for walking and cycling, And most importantly: you'll get fantastic views of Loch Tay. This freshwater loch is situated in the central Highlands, and it's also the largest freshwater loch in Perth and Kinross, and the 6th largest loch in Scotland. Because it's an ideal central location, you'll have a perfect starting point to explore the rest of the Highlands. Of course, you can also stay in Ardeonaig alone because it’s already amazing.

How is the restaurant in Ardeonaig? Because without good food, you won’t be prepared for a good day of exploring the area. The restaurant only uses the finest ingredients from Scotland's larder. The more busy the season is, the fewer menu options you'll get at Ardeonaig hotel. Good to know is that the staff is attentive, extremely friendly, and helpful.
